Patrick Manian

He has since lived in Zen Buddhist monasteries, practiced martial arts extensively, studied gongfu tea, and practiced breathing purification in Japan. While the heart of his offering lies in meditation, he has found breath work and body movement to be invaluable elements in the pursuit of balance. In recent years, his interest in breath work has continued to grow because of how quickly it can impact our day, and how adaptable it is for anyone, anywhere. You can also find Patrick baking sourdough pizzas and pastries around town or in the desert making tea.

Since then, Keesey has received instruction from many recognized yoga teachers including: Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Cherilyn SunRidge, Swami Vashistananda, Swami Sivasankariananda, Erich Schiffmann, Pattabhi Jois, Sharath Jois, Zoe Slatoff, and Eddie Stern. Keesey received his 200 hour teaching certificate at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Grass Valley, CA in the fall of 2018.

Pat feels that developing a yoga practice is an essential way to gain acceptance of one’s limits and manage the challenges of daily life. He feels it is important to practice without attachment to results, and to let the benefits be welcome byproducts rather than goals. Over time the instrument of the body will heal and strengthen, and the mind will become more easily focused and calm. The most important aspect is to show up for practice and focus on the effort at hand as regularly as possible. Pat believes that in order to gain and appreciate the full benefits of yoga it is essential to supplement the asana practice with other spiritual disciplines such as selfless service, study of philosophy, meditation, and spiritual observances.
